About Us
Building Confidence One Ride at a Time
Middletown Equine Therapeutic Riding’s mission is to help students thrive through the experience of learning to ride and care for horses. Under the guidance of a certified PATH (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship) instructor, students are taught not just riding skills, but also horsemanship, horse maintenance, and grooming. The program is designed to support personal growth, confidence, and well-being through meaningful interaction with horses.
Services
We Have the Services You Need
Therapeutic Riding Lessons
At Middletown Therapeutic Equine Riding, we offer individualized riding lessons designed to support students physically, emotionally, and socially through the power of horsemanship. Each lesson is adapted to meet the unique needs and abilities of the student, ensuring a safe and positive experience in the saddle. Riding helps improve balance, coordination, strength, and confidence — all while fostering a sense of accomplishment and joy.
Horsemanship and Horse Care Education
Our program goes beyond riding. Students learn to connect with horses through every aspect of care — including grooming, tacking, feeding, and basic horse maintenance. These hands-on experiences help build responsibility, empathy, and trust. Working alongside our gentle and well-trained horses allows students to develop meaningful bonds that extend beyond the arena.
Certified, Compassionate Instruction
Our lessons are led by a certified instructor recognized by PATH International (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship). This ensures that every session is grounded in industry best practices for safety, effectiveness, and therapeutic value. Our instructors bring not only professional expertise but also compassion, patience, and a genuine dedication to each student’s growth and well-being.

“The horses have helped me more than words can say.”
After an injury left me with limited mobility, I was hesitant to try riding again. But the team at Middletown made me feel safe and supported every step of the way. Being back in the saddle brought back a part of myself I thought I had lost.
— Sarah L., adult rider

“It’s not just about riding, it’s about healing.”
The connection my daughter has made with her horse has been incredible to watch. She’s more confident, more responsible, and she smiles more than she has in years. We are so grateful for this place and the people who make it special.
